PCOS Treatment

What is PCOS?

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, often referred to as PCOS, is a complex hormonal disorder that affects the ovaries. Women with PCOS typically have an imbalance in their reproductive hormones, leading to a variety of symptoms. This hormonal imbalance can interfere with the regular release of eggs from the ovaries, leading to irregular menstrual cycles and difficulty conceiving.

PCOS is a common hormonal disorder that affects many women of reproductive age. We are here to provide you with information, support, and personalized treatment options to help you manage this condition effectively.

PCOS Symptoms and Diagnosis

Common symptoms of PCOS include:

  1. Irregular Menstrual Cycles: Women with PCOS often have irregular or infrequent periods, making it challenging to predict ovulation.

  2. Excessive Hair Growth (Hirsutism): An excess of male hormones (androgens) can lead to the growth of unwanted hair on the face, chest, and back.

  3. Acne and Oily Skin: Hormonal imbalances can result in skin issues, including acne and increased oil production.

  4. Weight Gain and Difficulty Losing Weight: Many women with PCOS struggle with weight management due to insulin resistance, which can make it harder to lose weight and maintain a healthy body mass.

  5. Hair Loss (Male Pattern Baldness): Thinning hair or male-pattern baldness can occur in some women with PCOS.

  6. Fertility Challenges: PCOS is a cause of female infertility due to irregular ovulation or anovulation (lack of ovulation).

  7. Pelvic Pain: Some women with PCOS may experience pelvic pain, which can be related to the presence of ovarian cysts.

To diagnose PCOS, we conduct a medical history review, physical exam, pelvic exam, and blood tests to check hormone levels. Pelvic ultrasound may also be used to examine the ovaries.
